Has helped me sleep I am 45 and have Fibromyalgia. I was diagnosed in January of 2003. My wonderful Rhumy added Soma to my list of meds. I find it helps a lot with muscle stiffness, and it has been helping me sleep much better at night. I am still early in my treatment, now for about two weeks. I have noticed some stomach cramping and diarrhea. Even though they are listed as side effects, I could also have caught a stomach bug. I am hoping that this med helps me in the long run as I long for a good night’s sleep and need to be comfortable. That was beginning to be another problem for me. It hurts to be in the bed and it hurts not to be in the bed. Soma has really helped me. It was very encouraging to read a lot of positive feedback from others who have FMS and use Soma.

Soma extremely effective I find Soma really loosens up the muscle knots I have with FM even after using it for 13 years. I use it as needed. (every day!) sometimes I only need 1 in the late afternoon & then again before bed. Other times I have to take it shortly after rising in the morning & every 4-5 hours after that. I also take 1/2 of one in the middle of the night when I wake up in pain. If I take a whole one in the middle of the night, then I wake up groggy in the morning. However, I have to say that I do take Ultram every day twice a day for pain also, so Soma relaxes the muscles & helps with pain, but I do need a pain reliever also, as well as ambien every night for sleep.

For fibromyalgia, this drug is a godsend. My wife gives it to me 4 times a day with little or no side effects. It addresses muscle spasms/pain, insomnia, restless leg syndrom and is quite tolerable when taken with and without food. A perfect 10 for treatment of fms.

Other drugs Soma is the only type of drug that I was say is a “other” drug. One the doctors don’t think to rx you but does the trick every time. I took it at first for neck muscle pain. However I noticed it helped with my god-aweful anxiety quite a bit, helped with sleep too.
It worked even better when I take it with my anxiety medicine Ativan.
I love Soma but I hope they never take it off the market and I think they need and extended release version. Hopefully one day this will be the case because extended release technology is popular.
Otherwise I think it is too short-acting. I have to have a back-up drug, as I already do, because it wears out faster than a fire-cracker.
